Introducing Abigail!

Its been a few months since my last post.. but I will be honest, we didnt do a whole lot because I worked a ton and felt quite miserable in the last little bit of my pregnancy.  My pregnancy was overall a great one! No complications, didnt gain a ton of water wight like I thought with it being summer, and I was able to enjoy my summer with Kinsey and Harper before they started school.  We played in the blow up swimming pool a lot, jumped on the trampoline with the sprinkler and went to Lagoon.  That's our summer in a nutshell.

My due date for Abigail was September 7th.  I was excited and wanted to make it to my due date (but not go over) because that would mean I would get Thanksgiving off work.  I will be honest, being a nurse is my dream job, and I dont even mind working nights and weekends, but its the holidays that SUCK!! So I crossed my fingers from the beginning to make it to my due date.  Well... Abigail listened.. a little too well.  At my 37 week appointment I was only dilated to a 2.  For my 3rd baby I was expecting a little more.  So he told me he would just see me on my induction because he knew I found the weekly appointments pointless haha!  My induction was scheduled for September 7th at 6pm.  I was scheduled to work September 6th night shift so thats why my induction was scheduled so late in the day.  Well I started to hurt REALLY bad and not feel so well on the 6th so I took it easy and informed my work I was starting my LOA early.  The next day came, no baby, no contractions, no signs of labor. Kinsey and Harper were so anxious to have their baby sister come, and asked me just about every 10 minutes if it was time for me to go to the hospital.  We went and washed the car, went to the grocery store to buy snacks, and then went to feed the ducks to pass time.  FINALLY it was time to take the girls to my moms and head to the hospital.  While at my mom's, Kinsey got hurt within the first 5 minutes and started bawling... which then led to her crying about not wanting me to leave.  It was a drama fest and I wanted to cry right along with her!
My last pregnancy photo!
When we got to Labor and Delivery it was a ghost town.  We were greeted and taken right to room 14.  Our nurse Connie was AMAZING and had flavored ice chips, suckers, and everything all set up waiting for me.  I got hooked up and the pitocin started and just enjoyed myself for a little bit.  Brandon was pretty into watching football on his phone and conveniently packed his big headphones ;) lol.  Connie came in and told me my Dr was on his way to break my water and asked if I wanted my epidural now.  I was shocked because my contractions werent even hurting yet and I was already a 4.  I said "Sure, why not!".  So the epidural was placed before I even felt any pain and then my water was broke.  I was in heaven.
I watched Finding Nemo.. I missed me girls just a little bit ;)

I was sending "Labor Selfies" to my grandparents in St. George lol!!

My mom arrived shortly after since my other girls were sleeping and grandpa agreed to watch them ;).  My mom and I just sat and talked, Brandon watched football, Connie kept positioning me in all these crazy positions to get Abigail to descend, it was a perfect labor! Around 1130pm Connie checked me again.  I was an 8.. I told her I go fast after that point so she made herself available.  She was honestly so attentive and I felt so well taken care of with her!  At midnight I felt the urge to push so I told the nurse, she checked me, and sure enough I was ready to push.  I informed her that I have only pushed twice with my other girls and both times the nurses panicked because I almost delivered before the Dr got there.. So she didnt have me push at all.  My Dr arrived.. I was so embarrassed for him because he was a total jerk!!! He yelled at the nurse for setting the stool in his way (she didnt know he likes to stand), he snapped at her when she told him I had not pushed yet, then he snapped at the anesthesiologist because he came in and gave me a bolus because I had some pain.  I was so upset because both of those people had been with me since I started labor and took the best care of me I have ever received.. So I pushed twice, just like I predicted, and Abigail was here!!!  She was born at 12:27am weighing 7lbs 1oz and 19.5 inches long. She was PERFECT!!!  We immediately did skin to skin and then she nursed right away!  I was smitten :).
Perfect little girl!

After delivery I started to hemorrhage.  My nurse wasnt too concerned but it was enough for her to keep me in my room and make me nurse Abigail as long as I could.  She watched me closely for about 20 minutes then decided I needed to have more interventions other than nursing and the pitocin.  After I got some meds the bleeding slowed down a little bit.  I was then transferred to postpartum.  When I got there the charge nurse and floor nurse both pushed and beat the heck out of my stomach! I am so glad I had some numbness left from the epidural.  I know they were pushing hard and being aggressive because my skin hurt so bad the next day.  After about 4 hours I was doing much better and they let me get up and walk around a little bit.  The only other eventful thing that happened during our stay was Abigail started to choke.. I was feeding her in the middle of the night and she started to show signs of difficulty catching her breath.  I called in the nurse and asked if I could suction her.. She told me she had to have an order from her dr to suction and I was shocked!!!  So she decided to take her to NICU to have her looked at.  I started to bawl when she flat out told me I could not go with her!  I sat at the edge of my bed crying for what seemed like forever. Finally she brought Abigail back.  The nurses in the NICU can suction without an order so they did and got a bunch of amniotic fluid out.  The rest of the stay was typical.. just sleeping, eating, changing diapers, and nursing!!  The best part was Kinsey and Harper were able to come up during the day and visit with us and bond with their new sister!

Getting her first bath!

Best big sisters EVER!!
